The Presbytery of Western Kentucky Gives Thanks for the Tornado Recovery Team

Ralph Young, Executive Presbyter

Ralph Young, Presbytery Executive writes “The Presbytery of Western Kentucky is thankful for its Tornado Recovery Team! This team has been working to help victims of the December 2021 tornados since January 2022. They have been coordinating efforts to connect churches with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and other relief agencies. The team is currently managing eight (8) PDA disaster assistance grants totaling over $300,000 in relief.  Volunteer teams from across the country have been staying in Volunteer Host Sites and First Presbyterian Church, Madisonville, Kentucky and Calvert City, Kentucky.  These churches and others have made significant sacrifices to help those in need.

Even though the First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield, Kentucky continues to exist without a church, they have continued to worship and hold fellowship events in other locations to sustain their ministry.

No one is sure what long-term effects these disasters will have on our churches and presbytery, but with God’s help and the prayers of everyone, we will continue to spread the Word of God!
