Dear Synod Friends:
It has been 3 months since a line of storms and tornadoes severely impacted many places in Western Kentucky. I am reminded of this destruction as I drive through Bowling Green each day and pass by businesses still closed and homes either being repaired or demolished. West of Bowling Green, communities such as Dawson Springs, Bremen and Mayfield face even greater challenges.
The church building that served the members of First Presbyterian Church of Mayfield (pictured above) no longer exists. Many of our fellow Presbyterians find themselves underinsured due to the recent spike in construction costs. But despite the difficulties our church members are facing across the Presbytery of Western Kentucky, that has not stopped them from lending a hand to their neighbors in need. These communities have each pulled together and have shared resources with one another.
If you would like to contribute to aid those in the Presbytery of Western Kentucky still in need of prayer and financial assistance, the Presbytery has established a disaster relief fund to share aid across the Presbytery. Thank you for considering this ongoing need.
Contributions can be mailed to the Presbytery of Western Kentucky, P.O. Box 624, Hopkinsville, KY 42241.
